Follow me as I take another leap into the pit of materialism this time raving about the soon-to-come MARVEL SELECT: DEADPOOL.
I’m sure many of you know The Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool. Ever since he ‘starred’ [note the quotes] in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, he’s been all over the place. His meteoric rise to fame is staggering considering the fact that he didn’t even have a regular ongoing title a few years ago. Nowadays he stars in at least five comic books a month [this June he's in 7 books! And don't get me started on July.] and occasionally makes guest appearances every now and then in other books! They even had a ‘Deadpool Variant’ month where they shoehorned the character into various comic book covers! Ridiculous or not, Marvel is definitely on a Deadpool high right now.
So it’s no surprise that he’s finally getting the Marvel Select treatment this 2010 [in a few more months, in fact!]. However, this isn’t the first Deadpool figure on the market nor is it the most covetable – that easily goes to the Marvel Legends Series 6: Deadpool.
Featuring a ton of accessories [sais, guns and katanas], an extra head and even a molded Doop figure to go along with it, ML6: Deadpool was quite the action figure and well worth the money back then. It goes for over 100 dollars nowadays with the highest price I saw [so far] on eBay being $249.99. So, yeah – I’ll never get my hands on the original, so I think I’m going to settle for Marvel Select’s rendition which you can see behind the cut.
